What size dumpster do I need for a roof tear-off?
It depends on squares and layers far more than on house size. As a rough guide, up to about 15 squares of single-layer shingle fits a 10 yard, 15 to 25 squares suits a 15, and 25 to 40 squares or a two-layer tear-off usually wants a 20. Tell us the squares and the layer count and we will size it exactly.
Why shouldn't I just take the biggest container?
Because shingles are heavy. A 30 yard box will exceed its tonnage allowance long before it is full, so you pay overage for space you never used. On a tear-off the right answer is nearly always a smaller container with a weight allowance matched to the load.
Can I put other debris in with the shingles?
It is better not to. A clean single-material shingle load is cheaper to dispose of and easier to document for an insurance claim. Mixing in framing timber, packaging and general junk drives the cost up and can complicate where the load can go.
Can the container go right next to the house?
