Concrete & Heavy Debris Dumpsters across Dothan and Houston County

Concrete is the material that breaks every intuition people have about dumpsters. A cubic yard of broken concrete weighs well over a ton. Fill a 20 yard box with it and you are looking at a load no legal truck configuration can move, on a container that is barely a third full.

That is why heavy debris runs on completely different rules: a smaller container, a low fill line, a single material, and pricing built around tonnage rather than volume. Done properly it is straightforward and often surprisingly economical, because clean concrete has genuine recovery value.

What belongs in a heavy debris box

  • Concrete — driveways, patios, slabs, footings, steps, kerbing
  • Brick and block — walls, chimneys, foundations, paver bases
  • Asphalt — driveway millings and broken paving
  • Dirt, clay and soil — excavation spoil, landscaping removal
  • Stone, gravel and rubble
  • Ceramic tile and porcelain — deceptively heavy in quantity

Keep it to one material where you can. Clean concrete without rebar, timber, plastic or soil mixed through it is the cheapest load of all because it can be crushed and reused rather than buried. Mixed rubble is still fine — it just costs more.

Why the 10 yard is the right box

The 10 yard container is not a small version of the others; it is the purpose-built heavy debris box. Low sides mean you can load it by hand or with a barrow without lifting material over your head, and its footprint is compact enough for a tight driveway.

You will not fill it to the top and that is by design. We will give you a fill line based on the material, usually somewhere between a third and halfway, and stopping there is what keeps the load legal and the price at the quoted rate. A box loaded past that point cannot be transported and has to be dug back down on site.

Placement, and being honest about the ground

A concrete load is the heaviest thing that will ever sit on your driveway, so placement matters more here than on any other job. Boards go down as standard. We will put it on the thickest, flattest section available and keep it clear of the apron edge, expansion joints, drain covers and septic lids.

If the drive is older, cracked, or sits on soft ground after a wet spell, tell us — a gravel pad, a street placement where permitted, or a spot further back may be the better answer. And if you are demolishing a slab that sits over irrigation lines or utilities, flag that too.

Answers

Concrete & Heavy Debris — your questions

Why can't concrete go in a regular dumpster?

Weight. A single cubic yard of broken concrete weighs well over a ton, so a standard container filled with it would be far too heavy to transport legally and would blow through any normal tonnage allowance many times over. Heavy material needs a dedicated low-fill box priced on tonnage.

How full can I load a heavy debris container?

Usually between a third and halfway, and we will give you a specific fill line based on your material when we deliver. Stopping there is what keeps the load legal and keeps you at the quoted price — a container loaded past the line cannot be collected until it is dug back down.

Can I mix concrete with other construction debris?

No. Keep it to masonry only. Timber, plastic, insulation and general rubbish mixed into a concrete load stops it being usable as recycled aggregate, which means it costs considerably more to dispose of and may be refused at a recovery facility.

Is concrete recycled?

Clean concrete very often is — crushed and reused as aggregate or fill rather than landfilled. That is exactly why we push so hard on keeping the load free of rebar offcuts, timber, soil and plastic. A clean load is cheaper for you and better all round.

What about dirt and soil from excavation?

Same container and same principle. Soil is heavy and gets heavier when wet, so a small box with a low fill line is the right approach. Tell us whether it is clean fill or mixed with vegetation and rubble, because that changes where it can go.
