Learn moreColumbia, Alabama · Houston County
On the bank of the Chattahoochee River, Columbia is one of the oldest settlements in this corner of Alabama. Big Joey's hauls roll-off containers up there for river camps, historic homes and everything in between.

Columbia's identity comes from the river. The town grew as a landing and trading point, and today it draws people who want to be near the water without leaving Houston County. Housing runs from genuinely old in-town homes with high ceilings and plaster walls to fishing camps, cabins and weekend places closer to the water. That produces a distinctive workload for us. Historic renovation means heavy demolition debris. Riverside properties mean flood and moisture damage, waterlogged flooring, ruined drywall and swollen cabinetry. Add the seasonal clearing of camps that have sat unused, and there is steady demand in a town this size.
Flood and water damage work is the specialty here. When the river or a hard rain gets into a camp house, everything porous comes out, and a container in the yard beats forty trips to a truck bed. We also take on estate cleanouts in the old part of town, where a family home may hold a century of furniture and stored goods. Add dock and deck rebuilds, roof replacements on cabins, and general seasonal clearing of overgrown camp lots, and Columbia keeps a container busy most months of the year.

Our trucks run US-84 East out of Dothan and then swing north on AL-95, which carries them up through the eastern edge of Houston County into Columbia. From there, local streets and river roads take us the last stretch. It is one of our longer hauls, so we tend to schedule Columbia deliveries in blocks with other stops on the east side of the county rather than as one-off afternoon runs.

We do. Columbia is a real part of our service area, not an afterthought, and we run the AL-95 route regularly. The practical difference is scheduling rather than availability: we like a day or two of notice so we can pair your delivery with other stops on the east side of the county and give you a solid arrival window.
Water-damaged material is bulky and soggy, which is a bad combination. For a small cabin where you are pulling flooring, lower drywall and ruined furniture, a 20-yard usually does it. For a full house that took water throughout, plan on a 30-yard, and understand that wet carpet and padding weigh several times what dry material does.
We have to be honest about ground conditions there. Sandy, low riverfront soil will not hold a loaded truck, and the last thing anybody wants is our rig sunk twenty feet from the water. We place on the driveway, a gravel pad or firm high ground and let you wheelbarrow the rest. If access is genuinely tight, tell us before delivery day.
Call or text when you are finished and we will put you on the next east-county run. Because Columbia is farther out, pickup is often the following day rather than a few hours later. If you have a hard deadline, like a closing or a family coming in for a weekend, tell us up front and we will build the schedule around that date.
